Chapter 24: THE ATTACK

“What is it, Dana?” Calvin and Joe asked at the same time.

“Ooooh!” We all said.

“I’m so kilig” Andrea laughed.

We all looked at her.

“It’s a Filipino word. I don’t think it has any equivalent to English. But we do say ‘kilig’ every time there is something sweet like this.” She pointed at the screen.

We all nodded and said, “We’re so ‘kilig’!”

Then we all laughed.

“Ummm… Nothing.” Dana said looking unease...

We can see that Joe was looking at Dana worriedly then he gave my rock star cousin a cold shoulder.

“Is it me or Joe doesn’t like Calvin?” I questioned from out of the blue.

Dara was the one who answered me without even looking at me; she had her eyes glued on the screen. “Dude. Boy Lingo. Glare. Jelly-O. Big Time.”

I shook my head, “What?” I asked in confusion as I looked at the others for help. “Why would Joe be Jelly-O big time with Calvin? I mean, Calvin’s nice. He didn’t do anything bad, that I know of. Maybe he did in his personal life…” I thought for a second then shook my head again. “But certainly not to Joe. They just met!”

Rachelle pulled my collar to the point where I was a few inches from her face. “Joe. Dana. Dana. Joe. Calvin. No, no. ‘Cause Dana, Joe.”"

I ooh-ed. I tilted my head to the other side then I saw the girl’s boyfriend staring at me—AGAIN. Dang, flab’it! You want to kill me with your looks? Dude, I have a lot of dreams to fulfill! T____T please not now. And why is her boyfriend the one staring at me? O___O Dude, I look like a dude right now. No way are you checking me out! That’s just so gay. But dang, you’re so fine! *raises eyebrows up and down*

Urgh! No way I’m bisexual! *pulls hair* But dude, these two are just soo… soo… then suddenly the girl stared at me too! With confusion on her face! Her look was like, “Hey you! Back off my man!” I gulped then instantly turned my head back to the guys.

“Look!” I pointed at the screen.

We all stared and we saw that Joe was tapping his fingers one by one, like the one Sharpay did in High school musical with Gabriella. Yeah, that kinda thing. Hahhah!

Jobel looked for the meaning of that movement in the boybible site and there it was.

“It means that he’s a bit irritated by the situation he’s on.” Jobel read.

“Jelly-O, indeed.” Alex agreed.

“High-five!” Andrea faced Alex and they high-fived each other. “This is exciting. Joe’s totally into Dana and so is Dana but then…”

“But then there’s the hottie-hott-hottie Clavin to top it off!” Alex giggled.

“Hey Cath. You sure you don’t have any spare one of that earpiece thingy?” Rache asked hopefully.

She’s not exactly the one who’s really into this thing but asking about that made me think she was really game into this operation. I smiled to myself then I grimaced.

“That one cost me a fortune!” I groaned.

“Dude, you stole it.” Alex pointed out.

“Took it with permission from The President more likely.” I rolled my eyes. “Beside, I’m not a thief. Never stole anything in my life. Well, except Dougie’s crayon in Kindergarten.”

“No, you didn’t!” Alex gasped.

“Hey! I needed a red one!” I defended as I crossed my arms together.

Alex said something to me but I wasn’t paying any attention to her because the girl I have a crush on and her boyfriend ,who was just beside my computer, stood up and walked passed me without a showing any sign of happiness. In fact they were frowning as they passed me. Oh dang, I’ve done it. L The girl hates me for his boyfriend was checking me out moments ago! Now the girl wouldn’t even notice me now because of this! As they passed me I smelt the boyfriend’s perfume. Cool Water. Dang, why can’t I smell the girl’s perfume? *shrugs* the boy’s perfume was just too dominant, I guess.

I followed them with my head. They went to the counter to pay for the time they have consumed. Oh dang. What perfect features. The girl’s white streaks were just in the right places. I just can’t help but stare at her face. [points at the picture posted at the beginning ]

“Whoa. She’s beautiful. Too bad she’s flat-chested.” Alex suddenly commented.

I shook my head and looked at her.

“Seriously. If I was a guy, I would go out with her. But her flat-chest would deceive me so much.” Alex looked at me with a frown painted on her face. “Or maybe not.” She added a smile.

I just battered my lashes then stared at the body of the girl in the counter. It was totally the first time I got to notice her skeletal system in the outside. Oh dang. She has no boobs! Seriously NO BOOBS. Have she really undergone puberty? What the heck??!!

She’s so lucky!!! She doesn’t have to carry any burden with her every time! NO FAIR!!

“Cathrel.” Someone called.

“Cath.” Someone tagged my shirt.

The girl on the counter, together with her boyfriend, started to walk out of the shop when suddenly the girl glanced back at me and still… she wasn’t smiling at me. In fact, she was squinting her eyes. O_O What’s up with that? Then they went out of the shop. Completely out of my sight—forever! T____T

I decided to sit on my seat beside Jobel and sighed. I looked out of the window to my left to see where they have gone but they were nowhere to be found then I turned to my left sadly and I almost jump to see the girl’s boyfriend squinting at me though the glass window. O_O

I instantly turned my attention to the guys again. My heart was beating triple times man! I was glad to see from the corner of my eyes that he went away. I sighed in relief and I had my undivided attention to my friend’s date.

“So I was thinking, maybe we can start composing our song now, Dana.” Joe told Dana with the I-don’t-like-him-being-here-with-us-at-all look.

“Hey maybe Calvin can help us! Since he writes his own songs, right?” Dana suggested happily.

“You guys composing a song?” Calvin asked with his eyes sparkling.

“Yes.” Dana answered with a giggle.

“What’s the subject all about?” Calvin showed some enthusiasm.

“A guy who falls in love very quickly. Seeing the girls and guys are all the same with all these trends and it’s becoming pretty lame then a girl came along. Stuff like that.” Joe said flatly as he glanced at him.

Calvin rubbed his chin. “Interesting choice of subject there.”

“Actually we didn’t choose it, we just—” Joe was cut off by Dana.

“So any ideas?”

“Lemme think for a moment.” He paused. “How about something that goes like this…All the girls pose the same for pictures. All the boys got the same girls hair. Well I am bored ‘cause I feel much older, Look at me as if I got a reason to stare.”

Joe just stared at my rock star cousin looking mystified. Not really jaw dropped but he had that look that says “say what again?”

“Wow.” Dana was the first one to utter a word after The Silence. Haha! Capitals, man. “How about that, Joe?”

Joe looked at Dana. “Uh, okay.” Then he looked at Calvin again who just smiled back at him. “At least we have something to start with.” Then he started to jot the lyrics down. “But you talk so loud, that it calms me down. You're crying…” Joe added more then he looked at Dana to contribute something.

"Uh… ‘let's make a toast’?" She tried.

“Good enough.” Joe laughed.

“Wait, but that doesn’t rhyme at all.” She complained.

“It doesn’t have to rhyme, you know.” Joe told her as he continued writing.

“Sometimes writing in a free verse form is easier than making it all rhyme.” Calvin added in a as-a-matter-of-fact way.

“Right. What he said.” Joe rolled her eyes.

“By the way, would you like some burritos?” Dana offered.

“Don’t mind if I do.” Calvin smiled and he decided to taste the food.

“Do you know that wearing sun glasses while eating is very indecorous?” Joe suddenly said as he looked at my cousin.

“Joe…” Dana called his attention with a tone has sounds like you-don’t-have-to-do-this. “Really, Calvin. You don’t have to.”

My cousin looked at Joe then to Dana. “No, it’s really okay.”

“And the cap. Very indecorous.” Joe added flatly without even looking away from his notepad.

I was surprised that Calvin didn’t retort back. He just did what Joe said since after all, it is very indecorous. He removed his shades which revealed his breathtaking green eyes and the girls and I went awww to the scene of Calvin’s eyes. Next was his baseball cap, he removed it slowly which revealed his dirty-blonde hair and his black streaks.

“Oh gawd, hottest guy alive.” Dara drooled.

“I know. This is way better than seeing him in his music videos.” Alex added.

“I wish I could touch his hair.” Andrea blurted out.

“Oh dang, same here! I wanna know if it’s smooth and silky.” Jobel agreed. “Gosh. How can someone be so hot?” she drooled.

“If only he wasn’t my first cousin.” I muttered to myself.

They all looked at me. “So unlucky of you! You can’t have a future with him!” they all laughed.

“At least I get to spend time with him!” I said triumphantly.

“But not at all times.” Dara stuck her tongue out.

“Hush!” Rachelle hissed. “There’s a drama coming here!”

We turned our attention back to the screen again and then it happened.

“OMIGAWD! CALVIN POYNTER!” A girl squealed. Then it was followed by more squealing.

Five girls went to their table and Joe and Dana were all confused. Then more people came to their table. It was pretty crowded after five seconds.

“Calvin, I love you!” an Italian girl screamed.

“Will you marry me?” another girl said with a little less hysteria. She looked like she was so in love with my cousin.

“Hey, girls.” Calvin forced a smile.

“Will you give me an autograph?” one asked handing out a napkin.

Calvin scribbled his signature and returned it back to the girl.

“And a picture too?” she also asked but she already flashed her camera. “Oh my God. Calvin Poynter at Taco Bell. Could my day get any better?” then followed by dozens of other flashes.

“What are they doing??!!!” Dara cried out.

Then to our surprise a girl from the back of Joe’s table kissed Calvin on the cheek.

“OMG! I kissed Calvin! Ahh! I’m gonna die!” the girl squealed then she fainted.

“What the?” this time it was I who reacted. “We must rescue him!”

“Can I have your cap? Oh I love color blue too!” another girl who was black asked him. “We have so much in common! We are destined for each other!”

“Yeah, right.” I heard Alex commented.

“Oh shut up! He’s mine!” A girl pushed as her camera flashed.

“Girls, calm down. No fighting. Please.” Calvin stood up and tried to calm them down.

Dana must have shot Joe a look that says “Let’s help him.” And Joe looked unsympathetic as he rolled his eyes.

“Calvin, is this your girlfriend?” a girl once asked as she looked at Dana.

“Uh..n—” Dana started.

“I need to take her picture.” The girl smiled then she flashed but we saw Dana’s hand in front of the camera.

“You’re dating a new girl? What happened to Georgia?”

“OMG. You guys broke up?”

“What’s the name of your new girlfriend?” a girl pushed another girl to be able to see Dana’s face.

“No...No…” Dana kept on saying.

I got my cell phone and dialed a set of numbers. After a few seconds the manager emerged from the kitchen and approached the table that was causing too much attention.

“Girls, please. Let Mister Poynter have his meal. A little respect to the boy, please. I will have to tell you to get out from Taco Bell premises. Your behavior is very deplorable and it is causing such a big disturbance to our customers here.” The manager said.

The girls slowly walked about but some stole some last minute shots of the celebrity at Taco Bell.

“We are very sorry for that, Mister Poynter.” The manager apologized. “Girls these days.”

“Actually they are called fan girls.” Dana corrected.

“The attack of the killer fan girls.” Joe muttered. “Ooooh, scary.” He said sarcastically.

“Good job, Cath.”

“I know. I know.” I smiled to myself. “I rock so hard.”

“No, man. You rule!” Andrea added with a laugh.
